Cherneka Johnson
Early Life
Cherneka Lee Johnson was born on 3 March 1995 in Tauranga, New Zealand, and is of Māori (Ngāti Ranginui) descent. She is the eldest of three siblings. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Australia’s Gold Coast in 2007. Johnson discovered boxing in 2008 at a local PCYC before joining the Albert Boxing Club. She trained under Allan Nicolson Jr alongside future world champions Skye Nicolson and Che Kenneally.
She enjoyed an outstanding amateur career after beginning in 2011, competing in more than 60 bouts. Johnson won the 2011 AIBA Junior World Championship, claimed multiple Australian national titles, and represented Australia at several international tournaments. In 2016, she relocated to Warrnambool, Victoria, to pursue a professional boxing career. Later returned to Queensland to continue her training.
Professional Career
On March 19, 2016, Cherneka Johnson began her professional career by knocking out Napaporn Ruengsuwan in the second round. She soon became an undefeated fighter and took the WBA Oceania Bantamweight belt by beating Gretel de Paz in 2017. In 2018, she went on to win the WIBA World Bantamweight title after knocking out Rungnapha Kaewkrachang.
The first time that Johnson was defeated professionally was in 2021 after losing to Shannon O’Connell on a split decision. In April 2022, she reclaimed her fighting spirit and defeated Melissa Esquivel for the IBF Super Bantamweight World Championship title. Johnson has defended her title successfully but later lost it to Ellie Scotney in June 2023.
However, Johnson reclaimed her glory in May 2024. She beat Nina Hughes to clinch the WBA Bantamweight World Championship through a majority decision that was highly debated. Johnson cleared all doubts after winning by way of stoppage over Hughes during their 2025 rematch. Two months after that bout, Johnson beat Shurretta Metcalf to become the undisputed bantamweight world champion. She won the IBF, WBC, WBO, and Ring Magazine belts along with her WBA strap. She successfully defended the undisputed championship against Amanda Galle in 2025. This improves her record to 19 wins and 2 losses.

Early Life
Dina Thorslund was born on October 14, 1993, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Dina had a passion for boxing in her early years. She trained in Denmark before entering her professional career. Despite having a short amateur boxing career, she gained a lot of experience and chose to go pro at 21. Dina quickly proved to be one of Denmark’s best female boxers with her well-disciplined approach and ring intelligence. Outside her boxing career, she is a mother. She has been seen discussing how to balance both aspects of her life. She gave birth to her second child in 2025, and she plans to come back in 2026.
Professional Career
Dina Thorslund stepped into the professional ring on 28 February 2015. She won against Petra Podráská in the opening round. She remained unbeaten during her early years and won the vacant European Super Bantamweight title in 2017 by knocking out Gabriella Mezei.
However, it was March 2018 that she marked her success. She won against Alicia Ashley and took the WBC Interim Super Bantamweight belt. Five months later, she again emerged victorious as she scored a majority decision over Jessica Arreguín. She claimed the vacant WBO Super Bantamweight World Championship belt. Thorslund successfully defended the title many times before moving to bantamweight in 2021.
She won the WBO Bantamweight World Championship after defeating Jasseth Noriega. She continued her undefeated streak by winning bouts against Zulina Muñoz, Niorkis Carreno, and Débora Anahí López.
Her greatest feat to date was achieved on 1st September 2023. She defeated Yulihan Luna and unified the WBC and WBO Bantamweight World Championships. As well as clinching the first-ever Ring Magazine Bantamweight championship. Her title defenses in 2024 were against Mary Romero, Seren Cetin, and Terumi Nuki.
In March 2025, Thorslund joined Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). She gave back her world championships because she was pregnant. There was a miscarriage for reasons unknown; she then resumed her boxing career in January 2026. She beat Almudena Alvarez via unanimous decision to become the WBC Interim Featherweight champion. She won her 24th fight without ever losing one.
