The Russian Premier League’s Format

The runners-up of the season are given a place in the Champions League qualifying round. The third and fourth placed teams are given a place in the Europa League qualifying stages.

The last two teams who finish in the 15th and 16th positions are automatically relegated to the second tier of Russian football, the Football National League. The teams that finish in 13th and 14th place take part in a promotion/relegation playoff against the third and fourth team from the FNL.
