The season kicked off on August 21 and will run until May 29, 2027. The defending champion Paris Saint-Germain remains the favorite after winning the Ligue 1 title for many consecutive seasons now. However, other strong teams will have the ambition to defeat Paris Saint-Germain and qualify for European football competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-matchday-ahead\"><strong>Matchday Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Matchday 2 features several crucial matches, with PSG visiting Lille and Marseille visiting Monaco. Lens will play against Strasbourg, and Lyon, Lille, and other powerful clubs will continue to compete in Ligue 1. Troyes and Le Mans are two promoted teams competing in Ligue 1 in the 2026-27 season.
