Latest Updates Ahead of the MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix 2025
The Malaysian MotoGP is the third final Grand Prix, with two more races to go. As Marc Marquez already has the Championship, the remaining races focus only on the runner-up position. Still, some incidents and updates further complicate this season’s finishing races. Let’s look at them in detail. Stay connected with Bettingpremier to know every major sports update.
Marc Marquez’s Shoulder Injury
Marc Marquez, the current champion, had a horrible crash in the Indonesian GP, colliding with Marco Bezzecchi. This resulted in a major shoulder injury, which required surgery. Marc reportedly admitted that he will return to the race before this season ends. However, his medical advisors reported that he should stay sidelined until the recovery is complete. The recovery period, however, advises staying in rest for more days. Therefore, he will miss the rest of the races in this season, including the MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix. Luckily for him, he had already won the championship just before his crash, allowing him to rest without anxiety. But fans will miss his P1 action on the Malaysian asphalt.
Marco Bezzecchi’s Double Lap Penalty
Marco Bezzecchi and Marc crashed at the Indonesian GP. The Aprilla rider made a mistake on the first lap at Mandaliaka on Sunday’s main race. He found Marc’s rear wheel at Turn 8, causing the crash. It was Marco Bezzecchi’s second offense this season. As a result, he was given a long lap double penalty for the upcoming Indonesian GP. Reportedly, Bezecchi confirmed that his errors were entirely accidental and out of control amid podium pursuit. Yet, he admitted his situational error and the FIM MotoGP Steward’s Panel double-lap penalty. This may burden him with an extra lap even if he leads the race throughout all the laps.
Francesco Bagnaia’s Contemplation
Francesco Bagnaia had a drastic decline like no other rider in MotoGP history. Although he stands third in the riders’ standings, Pecco struggles with inconsistency. Recently, he had a victory at the Motegi circuit, giving a comeback. However, he had no luck in the Mandalika track, leaving behind the riders in the qualifying round. His struggles were visible at the Mandalika sessions. Reportedly, Bagnaia has said that he and his team are reflecting on his mistakes and what caused his decline. However, Pecco is determined to return to his prime form, as is his team, Lenovo Ducati. Even if Pecco finished first in the remaining races, Alex’s shot at runner-up position is solid. Unless Alex Marquez fails to reach the podium in the remaining four races, Bagnaia cannot become the runner-up.

Insights
As shown above, Alex Marquez is in second place with 362 points, trailing behind the Champion. Francesco Bagnaia is in third place with 274 points. Bezzecchi stays 4th with 254 points.
As we observed, Alex’s runner-up prospects are excellent and unshakable, given his podium consistency. Meanwhile, Bagnaia has to secure his 3rd position and compete for the runner-up position.
As of now, Alex will get at least two podiums out of the four remaining races. Hence, Alex is mostly favored as the runner-up unless he fails to finish the remaining races.
On the other hand, Marco Bezzecchi is just 20 points behind Bagnaia. Due to the minor difference, Bagnaia must clearly secure his third position. However, Bezzecchi’s penalty will prevent him from claiming a podium spot in the next race.
Yet, to maintain his position this season, Pecco must earn a podium finish in each of the remaining races.
Sepang Racing Circuit Weather Conditions on Race Day
The Sepang International Racing Circuit is usually dry and sunny most of the time. Usually, the climate will have moderate humidity and a temperature of around 30-32 °C. Reportedly, the weather forecasts suggest a sunny day with a rare chance of mild evening showers. In the rare occurrence of rain, tire management and conditions will be tested against the racers’ ability.
MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix 2025 – Predictions for Podium
The upcoming MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix 2025 will be held at the Sepang International Racing Circuit, Malaysia. It will occur from October 23 to October 26, 2025. This Malaysian GP will begin after the Australian Grand Prix. Let’s look at the prediction for the top three positions ahead of the MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix 2025.
Alex Marquez
Alex Marquez’s aggressive riding and hard-braking style allow him to enter and exit corners quickly. This aggressive riding style lets him accelerate in corners without losing momentum. Alex has a cornering technique that he uses on hairpin turns. He brakes hardly and turns quickly to get maximum speed in the exits. Alex uses his body to control his balance in incredibly sweeping corners. He also maintains stability in highly demanding situations. However, it will cost him his tires, forcing him to manage tire wear. Coupled with Sepang’s hot temperature, he might have to be aware of tire management. Alex has also shown strong confidence in his GP24 bike. He also mentioned that Sepang is one of the most familiar tracks he races on. Mainly, he has demonstrated a strong sprint pace in previous seasons. Alex has an adaptable riding style, and we can expect him to finish first this time.
Francesco Bagnaia
Francesco Bagniaa enters this race with possible bike changes. He embodies precision, smoothness, and control over his bike. Pecco enters and exits corners at a stable mid-corner speed rather than hard-braking. It allows him to pick up quickly after every turn. His effective braking style will optimize his tire life, considering the race distance. It also allows him to maintain a consistent momentum throughout the lap. However, the hairpin turn that connects two long straights will be challenging for Bagnaia, given his braking style. He cannot employ his smooth carry-in and carry-out braking in these corners. Consequently, he might have to face setbacks in these spots. So, he has to compensate for the long straights with extra effort. However, his previous records in this circuit indicate his familiarity and mastery. Therefore, we can expect him to reach 2nd or even 1st positions if he has a strong early lead.
Marco Bezzecchi.
Marco Bezzecchi will enter this race after his penalty lap setback from the Indonesian GP. He has an aggressive driving style with a harsh corner entry and relies heavily on corner-entry aggression and front-end stability. Notably, heavy braking zones allow him to sustain his speed. He brakes late and carries the speed. Given Sepang’s layout, Marco might capitalize on the hairpin corner. He will recover more time in those corners for every lap. Therefore, each lap will save him more time, opening opportunities to overtake. However, he still has concerns about his bike’s stability in mid-corners and high lean angles. So, he might use his cornering ability sparingly as per demand and capitalize on long straights. In short, Marco Bezzecchi currently has a form for Sepang. Hence, we can expect him to reach the podium and possibly finish third this time.
