LeBron James has surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing record to become NBA’s all-time top scorer. Since April 1984, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record has remained for 38 years, unbeaten by many Basketball legends. 38-year-old LeBron James, wearing Los Angeles Lakers gear, took the achievement that many people thought would always belong to Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron did so with fade away. Kareem’s signature shot was skyhook. Michael Jordan had a signature jump shot called the fade away. Kobe Bryant, too, had one. The 75 years old Abdul-Jabbar was there for the game at the Lakers’ home court. He rose and cheered for LeBron James. He was visibly emotional; he lifted both arms in excitement. To honor James’ new NBA record, Abdul-Jabbar solemnly gave the ball over to him. Several celebrities who were there to witness the event were among the applauding supporters in the stadium.

Greatest Achievement
Many people believed this was an impossible goal, yet it has finally been attained. The crown of Lebron “The King” James now includes a new gem. He has played for his local team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and now the Los Angeles Lakers, for the past 20 years, winning a championship for each. This can be viewed as his greatest achievement to date out of all of them. Although he had previously surpassed legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, some believe that LeBron James shattering Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA record solidifies his place as the greatest player to have ever lived. Lebron continues to operate at a very high level. He continues to score 30 points per game. James also holds the distinction of being the youngest player to accumulate between 5,000 and 35,000 meaningful points. In 2019, he surpassed six-time NBA champ Michael Jordan to ascend to fourth place. In 2020, he overtook late Lakers legend Bryant to get to third place. In 2022, James overtook Karl Malone to go into second place overall. LeBron James also ranks in the top ten for three-pointers made, field goals made, assists, steals, and defensive rebounds.
