What to expect in this final ICC game?

Fans are eagerly waiting for the game to take place at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on December 6. The aggregate record between India and South Africa right now is 1-1. Who expected such a tense turn? Neither do the Indian fans nor we did. This is just a pure chance that is falling into the hands of South Africa. If they maintain the same rhythm, it won’t be enough because India would surely push harder to score or chase.

South Africa should change their gameplay and take control of the game entirely. If this final ODI toss favours South Africa, they are going to take the game exactly as they did in the last one. They knew the gaps in India and used them perfectly in the last game. South Africa still has a ton of chances to flip the script all the way towards themselves. Expect South Africa to keep their rhythm, also expect India to be a little aggressive than before.

Highlights in the last ICC game:

South Africa won the toss, and the rest of the game was controlled by them. Even though the pitch looked a little rough to start with, Temba Bavuma chose to bowl first. Within the first 11 overs, South Africa took a few wickets off India. Then came the centuries from India. Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 102 and 105, respectively. India stacked up their runs and finally scored a solid 358 in the end.  The chase then took place. Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma scored well, with Aiden Markram scoring a century.

In the end, Aiden Markram was said to be the Player of the Match. India’s bowling was great, but they did not have the consistency to put South Africa in a position of fear. They scored, and chasing such a big score was a huge task for South Africa. Yet they found ways, scored strategically, and won the game. Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna’s bowling was great, and they did manage to slow down South Africa.

Recent Injury Updates:

India

Shubman Gill was reported with a Neck injury and a spasm. He is still in the process of recovering. He is not expected to be in the upcoming ODI against South Africa. His return is mostly expected in mid-December or at the end of December. A few updates also say that he will be performing in the upcoming T20 series against South Africa. Thus, his recovery is near the end, and he could be returning to the squad as soon as possible.

Shreyas Iyer is still recovering from abdomen injury and it confirmed to be lacerated spleen. He is clearly expected to return next year. Hardik Pandya had a quadriceps injury. He is not expected to be in the ODI squad against South Africa. He is not expected to recover before the end of December, and updates suggest he could return to the squad next year.

South Africa

Tony de Zorzi , suffering from cramping, was considered to be retired hurt in the 2nd ODI. His status for the next match, the 3rd ODI, is uncertain, and he does not seem to be in the squad currently either. Kagiso Rabada         suffered a rib injury and was sidelined. He already missed both Test matches against India due to this injury. Gerald Coetzee updated that he has some Fitness concerns and a major pectoral muscle injury. Simon Harmer is suffering from a shoulder injury.

He was injured during the 1st Test game and suffered an injury while fielding. His return is not mentioned in the updates, and his presence is not much expected by the fans in the upcoming games. Overall, South Africa does have major players who suffer injuries. The performance of South Africa this time could slip a bit if they do not replace the players correctly.

Expected Performance in the upcoming ICC ODI

India

With KL Rahul’s captaincy, the game could be different, and India will surely push harder in the upcoming game. With Virat Kohli’s current form, he is truly enhancing the team’s batting power. Rohit Sharma, with his aggression, provides the stability to the team. KL Rahul and his captaincy and batting aggression are going to make the team perform exceptionally well compared to before. India’s strike rate stays high in the last game too.

Fast bowlers in India have been performing incredibly well too, putting much pressure on the South African batters to slow down. Arshdeep Singh’s fast-paced bowling, combined with Kuldeep Yadav’s leg spin, is expected to be effective against the South African batters. Overall, the performance of the team is going to be really high. But the way they perform and the strategy they are going to use depends on the captaincy of KL Rahul.

South Africa

Temba Bavuma has been leading the team in recent times; this gives them a huge momentum advantage. They don’t have to worry about strategy or the gameplay; they have to take control over the game just like the last H2H. With Aiden Markram, stability is no doubt for South Africa. Expect South Africa to put more pressure while India is batting, regardless of who wins the toss.

Their focus will be more on putting pressure and keeping the score as low as possible to make the chase easier. It’s more expected that Temba Bavuma will choose to bowl first if South Africa wins the toss again. If South Africa keeps their strategy and the rhythm the same as before and just pushes more on the bowling, the game will be in control. Otherwise, the game will be pretty much harder for South Africa.

Predictions

The upcoming ODI day 3 of India vs South Africa is going to take place at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. This final ODI is going to make the fans feel tense. Will South Africa win the game again?  Will India win this ODI series? The fans could easily tell that India is more favoured if South Africa did not perform that well in the last game. Now there is a huge chance for South Africa to win the game.

Even if the fans expect South Africa not to make it, they still have the momentum to flip the game entirely. They could still control the game and turn the game around. Yet the injuries are another factor that is going to bring South Africa down even more. India, on the other hand, has got into form even without Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. Replacements for Hardik Pandya were also made, and their form right now is strong. The only mistake they made in the last game was letting things loosen in the end, which allowed South Africa to score the target more easily. This time, India is not going to let the game go out of its hands. India is more favoured to win the upcoming ODI against South Africa.
