Mason vs. Bell: Fighters’ Profile
Abdullah Mason’s Profile
Abdullah Mason is a professional boxer from the United States and the reigning WBO lightweight champion. At 21, he is considered one of the most promising young talents in boxing. His speed, power, and technical prowess are what most people notice about him in the ring. Mason is fighting to keep up his great momentum in the lightweight division.
Professional Career
Abdullah Mason turned professional with Top Rank after a successful amateur career. His first fight was on the undercard of Mikaela Mayer vs. Maïva Hamadouche in Las Vegas. He made a quick impression by knocking out Jaylan Phillips in the second round. Then Manson’s second fight took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on the undercard of Oscar Valdez vs Shakur. He knocked out Argentine Luciano Ramos in the very first round.
As he got more experience, Mason kept surprising everyone with his power. He knocked out Desmond Lyons in six rounds at the Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko undercard. Then he went on to extend his undefeated record with a stoppage victory over Jose Cardenas in his T-Mobile Arena debut. Then, Mason was scheduled to have a fight against Giovanni Cabrera in April 2025. However, Cabrera had to back out due to an injury. Carlos Ornelas stepped in to fill the vacant spot. Mason, on his 21st birthday, once again delivered a great performance by knocking out Ornelas in the sixth round. The victory took his record to 18-0, and he finally got his hands on the vacant NABF and NABO lightweight titles.
In 2025, Mason was given a chance to fight for the world title, facing the undefeated Sam Noakes. The fight was for the vacant WBO lightweight title and was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mason performed professionally and won by a unanimous decision. That victory made him the youngest active male lightweight world champion in boxing history at just 21.
On April 6, 2026, it was announced that Mason would make his first defense of his WBO title against Joe Cordina. However, the fight was canceled as Cordina couldn’t get a U.S. visa. As a replacement, the undefeated Albert Bell was selected as the opponent. It will be an interesting all-American lightweight clash for Mason’s first professional fight in his hometown.
Albert Bell Profile
Albert Bell, a talented American boxer from Toledo, Ohio, has risen through the lightweight division with his unbeaten record. The boxer is highly regarded for his technical skills and ring discipline. He has achieved significant victories over veteran contenders like Jayson Vélez and former world champion Jonatan Romero. After the long years of hard work, Bell finally has a chance to make history. He will be fighting for the WBO lightweight title against Abdullah Mason.
Professional Career
Albert Bell started his journey in the ring professionally on June 28, 2013. Through those years, he consistently knocked out his opponents and never lost a single fight. His streak of victories drew huge attention in November 2023, when he knocked out Jayson Vélez, a former world title challenger. Later, in March 2024, Bell knocked out another former world champion, Jonatan Romero, with a single punch.
Over the span of a year from 2023 to 2024, Bell was the top boxer in the WBO Junior lightweight division. Later, Bell requested an interim title fight against Archie Sharp. The WBO, however, dismissed the proposal, stating that Emanuel Navarrete was not obliged to face the mandatories at that time. Subsequently, they authorized other fighters for the interim crown. Bell, a few months later, dropped in the rankings all the way to 15th, despite winning every fight.
In 2025, Bell made a transition to lightweight. He secured two wins and kept his record perfect. Following that, IBF mandated a world title eliminator for Bell to face Lucas Bahdi, where the winner would fight champion Raymond Muratalla. Nevertheless, after Bahdi declined to fight, the IBF instructed Bell to face Andy Cruz.
The IBF eliminator was called off as he was called to challenge Abdullah Mason for the WBO lightweight world title. Bell was a last-minute replacement for Joe Cordina. Bell finally got his gesture for a world title shot.

Mason vs. Bell: Prediction and Pick
Mason is most likely to keep hold of his WBO lightweight title after this fight. The 22-year-old WBO lightweight champion has been one of boxing’s fastest-rising boxers, with a perfect undefeated record. The fact that he can end fights early makes him a very dangerous opponent for anybody in the lightweight division.
But Bell shouldn’t be overlooked. He has a 28-0 record and has more experience than Mason. Bell is a great boxer, characterized by good footwork and high ring IQ. However, his knockout percentage is quite low, which indicates that he’s more likely to outbox his opponent than knock them out.
On the one hand, Bell’s defensive skills and experience could be just enough for him to keep up. On the other hand, Mason’s higher power, his youth, and the quality of his latest performances are giving him the advantage. If Bell is not able to keep Mason off early, then Mason will be the one to control the fight.
